IEYC stands for the International Early Years Curriculum. It is an educational framework designed for children aged 2 to 5 years. The curriculum focuses on holistic development, including social and emotional skills, along with basic academic knowledge.
It emphasises experiential and play-based learning, encouraging children to explore and understand the world around them through theme based units and get engaged themselves in different activities that integrate various subject areas. The IEYC is used in international schools and early childcare education centres
The International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) is considered beneficial for several reasons:
- Holistic Development:
It emphasises overall growth, including emotional, social, and personal development, not just academic skills.
- Play-Based Learning:
It uses play and hands-on activities, which are effective for young children’s learning and development. - Thematic Approach:
Lessons are organised around themes that integrate different subjects, making learning more engaging and meaningful.
- Flexible Framework:
It can be adapted to different cultural contexts and individual learning needs.
- Focus on Well-being:
It places importance on children’s well-being and encourages a love for learning from an early age.
- Parental Involvement:
It encourages parents to be involved in their child’s learning, strengthening the home-school connection.
These features make the IEYC a well-rounded and adaptable curriculum for early childhood education.
- Quality of Education: We offer a high-quality curriculum, which requires specialised training for teachers and high-quality educational materials.
- Child centred Approach : Our educators employ a child-centred approach, focusing on each child’s individual needs, interests, and development pace.
- Experienced Staff: Highly qualified and experienced teachers
Our teachers hold recognized early childhood education certifications and degrees, ensuring they are well-versed in the latest educational practices
and trained staff members.
- Facilities and Resources:modern classrooms, indoor and outdoor activity area, customised infrastructure and resources are procured from overseas
5. Student-Teacher Ratio: Lower student-teacher ratios provide more personalised attention to each child
Children generally start preschool at around 2 years old. At this age, they are developmentally ready for structured social and learning activities. They are ready to play and learn with other kids.
In the Adult & Child program, we work on holistic development of children.
- It enhances the bond between the adult and the child through shared activities and learning experiences.
- The program supports the child’s social, emotional, and cognitive development with the active involvement of the adult.
- Adults receive guidance on effective parenting strategies and child development from professionals.
- It helps establish a routine, which is beneficial for the child’s sense of security and stability.
- The program often includes play-based learning, which is enjoyable and beneficial for young children.
Student teacher ratio is 1:7, we keep the class strength between 14-16 with 2 teachers & 1 nanny.
And 1 nanny is designated for the washroom assistance.
If your child is in diapers, rest assured that our trained nannies will change them once a day or as needed. They are fully skilled in diaper changing to ensure your child’s comfort and hygiene.
If your child is off diapers, initially we will take them to the washroom every 20-25 minutes until they are expressive enough to communicate their needs. Once they are comfortable and vocal, we will take them whenever they ask.
It has to be initiated by parents. We support and reinforce the potty training efforts that you start at home, helping children become comfortable with using the washroom. Teachers and helping staff encourage a consistent approach and guiding children through the process in a supportive environment.
t’s not promotion, that’s our internal transition to pre-nursery which can be based on a child’s readiness as observed and evaluated by teachers rather than a formal promotion process. The focus is on ensuring that the child has achieved certain developmental parameters before moving to the next level.
The transition from playgroup (Phase A) to pre-nursery (Phase B) involves similar curriculum content but with increasing complexity in the activities. This approach ensures a gradual progression in the child’s learning journey.
We ensure your child will be formal school-ready. While we do not have any tie-ups or collaborations with formal schools, we can always issue a recommendation letter to support your child’s application process.
You are welcome to celebrate your child’s birthday in the class half an hour before the dispersal time. We request you to please discuss the date for the celebration with the respective class teachers as we would like to have one birthday celebration per child in the class.
Please keep the following in mind:
- Cake or Cupcakes: – You can either bring a cake or cupcakes for each child in the class.
- No Birthday Favours: – No birthday favours should be given out at school.
- Snack Option: – If you plan on bringing a snack for the birthday celebration, you can either bring a platter of fruits or vegetable sticks with a dip. (Not both items)
- Timing: – A gentle reminder that birthday celebrations will be held half an hour before the dispersal time.
At Wonderland School, we recognize that every child develops at their own pace. While 20 months can be a bit early for some children to start an independent program, we assess each child individually to determine their readiness.
Our criteria for starting the independent program include:
- We observe the child’s developmental milestones, such as their ability to follow simple instructions, engage in playing independently and show interest in exploring new activities.
- We assess the child’s ability to interact with other children, teachers and staff.
- Teacher Observations and evaluation
If you believe your child may be ready to start the independent program at 20 months,
We recommend bringing your child in for a session where we can observe him.
Yes, initially, teachers and Nani help in feeding the students. However, they gradually encourage the children to eat on their own.
Wonderland does not have transportation for students to ensure their safety. This approach allows parents or guardians to personally manage their child’s commute, ensuring they are safely handed over to the respective family members.
