Our Academic Director

Ms. Shelley Auld is an experienced Early Childhood Principal and Lecturer.

Ms. Shelley is the Principal of Wonderland and the Academic Director for WELC. She was born and raised in New Zealand. She went to Otago University and gained an Early Childhood Education degree and Post-grad Diploma in Child Advocacy.

Over the years, she held a variety of teaching positions and grew into a leader in the early childhood field. Ms. Shelley worked for the Dunedin College of Education delivering professional development programs to schools and lectured undergraduates. She also worked for the New Zealand Government supporting community playgroups and supporting early childhood schools.

Her first overseas position was as an establishing Principal in Hanoi, Vietnam. She moved to Jakarta and was introduced to the International Early Years Curriculum [the IEYC].

She was very happy to be asked to join the IEYC Asia Pacific Training team and the Accreditation Team and enjoyed the extra training that these positions required.

When she left Jakarta, she had a brief time in China. Now Ms. Shelley is a proud member of the Wonderland family.

Trained educators

We employ teachers that are committed to lifelong learning and love teaching young children.

WELC provides teachers with ongoing professional development. Teachers engage in regular professional discussions about all aspects of teaching and learning. Workshops and seminars are provided to teachers to ensure that they understand how to implement the IEYC and how to assess children’s learning and development.

Learning spaces: Indoor & Outdoor

At WELC we believe that children not only learn through lessons and play but they also learn through the environment. We design learning to happen indoors and outdoors. We provide equipment that supports children to develop socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually
