Creating a platform of global learning & teaching practices :
At Wonderland, our learning and teaching practices have been based on the Montessori philosophy. With a focus on developing life-long learners and life-skills, Wonderland has decided to enrich their excellent Montessori teaching and learning practices by introducing the Enquiry based curriculum, the International Early Years Curriculum, IEYC while maintaining to keep the best of the Montessori philosophy.
Maria Montessori developed a range of age appropriate activities designed to enhance children’s fine and gross motor skills, language skills, special awareness, mathematical skills, along with developing skills and values like, task
completion, focus, and independence .
The classrooms are fully equipped with Montessori materials and we are adding a range of materials to support the IEYC.
International Early Years Curriculum
The International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) is the curriculum offered at WELC.
The IEYC is research based and promotes international best practices. This curriculum is based on play and playful lessons. Every term a class implements a Unit of Learning. The Units of Learning have been designed to appeal to children’s interests, for example Dinosaurs, Toys, Space and Animals. At the start of each term every class will have an Entry Point. The Entry Point is a fun event that has been planned to introduce the children to the Unit of Learning (or topic) for the term. Children become very excited about the learning that they will be involved in. Every unit of learning has Learning Outcomes that each child will work toward achieving over the term. At the end of the term, you will be asked to come to your child’s class to attend the Exit Point. Exit Points are a celebration of learning. You will get to see your child’s work and experience some of the excitement and fun that your child has been having learning at school.

Learning Cycle :
Enquiry-based learning & IEYC
The IEYC is an innovative research-based curriculum, recognising global best practice and the developmental needs of 2-5-year-olds. It supports key areas of learning through holistic enquiry and play-based approaches encompassing all curriculum areas including personal, social and emotional development.
There are 8 Learning Principles that underpin all practice in the IEYC, developed from the research undertaken by the developers of the curriculum.
- The earliest years of life are important in their own right
- Children should be supported to learn and develop at their own unique pace
- Play is an essential aspect of all children’s learning and development
- Learning happens when developmentally-appropriate, teacher-scaffold-ed and child initiated experiences harness children’s natural curiosity in an enabling environment
- Independent and interdependent learning experiences create a context for personal development and are the foundation of international mindedness
- Knowledge and skills development lead to an increasing sense of understanding when children are provided with opportunities to explore and express their ideas in multiple ways
- Ongoing assessment, in the form of evaluation and reflection, is effective when it involves a learning-link with the home
- Learning should be motivating, engaging, and fun opening up a world of wonder for children where personal interest becomes the driving force behind their educational journey.
